Chico MacMurtrie founded Amorphic Robot Works (ARW) in 1991. This is where I cut my teeth in fabrication and technical problem solving. My time with ARW taught me to improvise, problem solve, and continually iterate.
During my time with the collective, I helped standardize and teach a complicated build process, sequenced robot choreography, learned to work with inflatables, and turned napkin drawings into operable mechanisms.

The Amorphic Ranch.
We worked tirelessly to improve on a previous design for an inflatable intervention on the US Mexico border. This border crosser was just one version of a series of attempts to achieve a fully automated and portable monumental soft robot.
We also completed a separate inflatable work for Ars Electronica 2017 in Kremsmunster, Austria called Pneuma Fountain.
